Breakfast Attendant- Part Time

Location: Comfort Inn Brooklyn

Pay Rate: $18/hr

SUMMARY:

In this role, you will be responsible for setting up, maintaining, and breaking down the breakfast service area, ensuring guests receive a fresh, welcoming, and efficient breakfast experience each morning. We are looking for individuals who are genuinely passionate about hospitality, take pride in cleanliness and presentation, and enjoy creating a warm start to a guest's day.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Breakfast Set-Up & Presentation

  • Set up the breakfast area prior to opening, including food stations, beverage stations, dishware, and seating areas.
  • Prepare and display food items in accordance with hotel standards and brand presentation guidelines.
  • Ensure hot and cold food items are held at proper temperatures throughout service.
  • Label all food items clearly, including allergen information where applicable.

Guest Relations & Service Excellence

  • Greet all guests warmly as they arrive for breakfast and create a welcoming, positive atmosphere.
  • Respond promptly to guest requests, dietary needs, and special accommodations.
  • Monitor the breakfast area throughout service, restocking food, beverages, and supplies as needed.
  • Clear and reset tables promptly to maintain a clean and inviting dining environment.
  • Anticipate guest needs and deliver personalized service that exceeds expectations and drives positive reviews.

Inventory & Supply Management

  • Monitor food and supply levels and communicate replenishment needs to the kitchen or Food & Beverage Manager.
  • Assist with receiving, storing, and rotating breakfast inventory following FIFO (first-in, first-out) standards.
  • Track and report waste and spoilage to minimize loss.
  • Complete daily inventory counts and logs as required.

Communication & Interdepartmental Coordination

  • Maintain clear communication with the kitchen, Housekeeping, and Front Desk to address guest needs efficiently.
  • Log guest requests, complaints, and notable incidents accurately in the shift communication log.
  • Relay food allergy notes, special requests, and supply shortages to relevant departments.
  • Support the Manager on Duty (MOD) by communicating breakfast area status during the shift.

Safety, Security & Compliance

  • Follow all food safety and sanitation standards, including proper food handling, storage, and temperature control.
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of emergency procedures and respond calmly and effectively in the event of an emergency.
  • Adhere to all brand franchise standards, hotel policies, and applicable health and regulatory requirements at all times.
  • Report any suspicious activity, safety hazards, or equipment issues to management immediately.
  • Ensure the breakfast area, kitchen equipment, and surrounding common areas are clean, organized, and presentable at all times.

Administrative Duties

  • Complete all required shift paperwork, reports, and logs accurately and on time.
  • Operate and maintain breakfast equipment such as coffee machines, waffle makers, and warming units.
  • Break down and thoroughly clean the breakfast area at the close of service, including all equipment and surfaces.
  • Assist with administrative tasks as assigned by General Manager.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, consistent with the responsibilities of this role.

Physical Requirements

This position requires prolonged periods of standing and walking throughout the shift. The associate must be able to frequently bend, stoop, reach, push, pull, lift, and carry items weighing up to 25 pounds. The role requires the ability to safely handle food, supplies, serving equipment, and trash; perform routine cleaning tasks; and work in a fast-paced kitchen and dining environment with exposure to hot equipment, cleaning products, and varying temperatures.
